Welcome to DTS News
I hope to share many ideas to help others get organized and help them become aware of things that can save time and most effectively use space. Last month I had the opportunity to go to the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO’s) Annual Conference in Reno. Can you imagine being in a conference with several thousand organizers? There was much to learn and share and I look forward to using my knowledge to help others.
Spring has finally arrived for most of the country. With the seasons changing, this is a great time to get rid of those things that you no longer need. First, consider where you like to make donations in your community. There are so many options, but consider whether you want to deliver the items yourself or have them picked up. If you have not made a donation to the organization of your choice before, call or visit them and find out whether there are limitations to what they take. Most donation sites will not take chemicals and some will not take large items due to space constraints. Some will not take clothes out of season, but many will.
After you have a plan in mind as to what you will do with these items that are no longer needed, take a tour of your house and don’t forget your garage. Go room by room and see what is no longer being used. If you plan to itemize your donations (to attach to a receipt), grab a notebook and write them down as you put them in a bag or box to transport them. This will allow these items to be ready, without further effort, to go as soon as you are able to take them or have them picked up. Happy purging!
